• Cipla sponsors national ARV training course In addition to regularly sponsoring academic 'refresher' courses for HIV clinicians, in 2007 Cipla sponsored a nationwide training course on ARVs and the management of HIV. Developed and facilitated by respected academic Dr Neil Butkow (Wits University) in association with consulting company MBC Health the course, which was free to all participants, reached pharmacists, doctors and nurse practitioners in private practice from Medical Aid companies, corporates, mining hospitals, the automotive industry, Government hospitals, HIV disease management companies and pharmaceutical wholesalers.
• Cipla establishes R100 000 bursary for SA HIV Clinicians' Society Cipla established a R100 000 bursary fund for the South African HIV Clinicians' Society to enable HIV clinicians working in the most rural and remote regions of South Africa to attend the South African AIDS Conference from 5 - 8 June 2007.
• New look for Empilweni Clinic Cipla recently donated funds towards the refurbishment and renovation of Empilweni Clinic, a paediatric HIV clinic at Coronation Hospital in Johannesburg. Other sponsors of the project were UNICEF and the Wits University Paedatric HIV Research Unit.

• Cipla hosts Management of HIV workshop Last year, Cipla organized a major workshop around the management of HIV in adults and paediatrics for pharmacists working in government hospitals around the Western Cape. The workshop was facilitated by two highly reputable HIV clinicians, Prof Brian Eley (University of Cape Town) and Dr Emile Reed (University of Stellenbosch).
• Clinical Research Dr Anisa Mosam of the University of KZN is undertaking clinical research on Cipla's Triomune. Dr Mosam uses Triomune to treat HIV-infected patients with Kaposi's Sarcoma. She has already published preliminary findings from her study in highly reputable international journals.
